Discover Sailing Open Day

On Saturday 14 September, almost fifty guests joined the club for a free test sail on the river as part of our annual Discover Sailing Open Day. Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who helped to welcome our guests and get them out on the water. Among the volunteers were Rubina and Elon. Rubina has shared some photos with us and written us the fantastic report below.
Sunny blue skies with a gentle breeze and easy tides provided optimum sailing conditions. The skills of our youngest visitor, a four legged canine were called upon when our Principal Instructor dropped his shoes in the midst of the Thames. Fortunately 'Elon' alias the 'Black Panther' sacrificed his pontoon duties and sprang into action to retrieve the dinghy shoe and successfully returned it to Gareth.
He was then awarded for his efforts by being granted the position of 'Rear Commodore, Retriever' for the afternoon and required to continue his river duties.
A thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all resulting in a few new members!
