2025 Calendar: Offshore Racing & Coaching



2025 Calendar

This year we are mainly focused on the Fastnet campaign but there is still a number of opportunities to get involved with Offshore Racing and Coaching:

1. [RACE TRAINING] Offshore Race Training Weekend, 30th May - 1 June
Level: perfect for beginners and intermediates
Boats: First 40 or 40.7
Areas of focus: perfecting manoeuvres as outlined in the playbook; sail trim at all angles of sail; sail selection and changes; spinnaker handling.


2. [RACE] JOG Race St Peter's Port, 22nd - 24 August
Jog Races are a great way to get into inshore and offshore racing! This is a 12-18hr offshore and overnight race; and return.


3. [RACE] JOG Race Cowes - Poole - Cowes 12th - 14 September
Jog Races are a great way to get into inshore and offshore racing! This is a straight one day race to Poole, and another race back. Approx 6 hour race each day.


4. [RACE] JOG Race Cowes - Lymington - Cowes 26th - 28 September
Jog Races are a great way to get into inshore and offshore racing! This is a straight one day race to Lymington, and another race back. Approx 6 hour race each day.


5. [RACE TRAINING] Offshore Race Training - October - 24th - 26 October
Level: perfect for beginners and intermediates
Boats: First 40 or 40.7

6. [RACE TRAINING] Offshore Race Training - November - 7th - 9 November
Level: perfect for beginners and intermediates
Boats: First 40 or 40.7
Areas of focus: perfecting manoeuvres as outlined in the playbook; sail trim at all angles of sail; sail selection and changes; spinnaker handling.



In addition, for general offshore sailing, we have member only offers for Skills Development weekends and Mile Builders. These are all with professional RYA Instruction and invaluable to further your offshore sailing experience:

[SKILLS DEVELOPMENT] Offshore Skills Development weekend - Sail Handling - 14th - 16 November

This is a weekend focused on yacht handling skills under sail. By the end of the weekend you should feel more comfortable with all aspects of manoeuvring a yacht using just her sails.


[MILE BUILDER] One week Mile Builder with instruction - 5th - 12th September

This will be a week of distance sailing combining several longer passages with a few skills and drills in the Solent and/or at our destinations. It will be suitable for anyone with a Competent Crew certificate or higher.


[SKILLS DEVELOPMENT] Offshore Skills Development weekend - Sail Handling 19th - 21 September

This is a weekend focused on yacht handling skills under sail. By the end of the weekend you should feel more comfortable with all aspects of manoeuvring a yacht using just her sails.


[SKILLS DEVELOPMENT] Offshore Skills Development weekend - Boat Handling 3rd - 5 October

This is a weekend covering yacht handling skills under both power and sail. We will spend one day focussing on each of the disciplines.
