Offshore Race Training - Oct
Race Training Practical Beginner/Intermediate
If you are new to racing or want to brush up on your skills this is the first of two training weekends planned by the club to teach you the basics or help you practice and improve your racing ability.
Under the supervision of our olympic coaches, you will rotate around the positions on the boat to learn and perfect the manoeuvres described in the playbook. If you are an intermediate racer, you can use this opportunity to hone in on areas of desired improvement, getting live feedback and guidance from some of the best.
On either a First 40 or 40.7, the areas of focus are likely to include:
- Perfecting manoeuvres as outlined in the playbook
- Sail trim at all angles of sail
- Sail selection and changes
- Spinnaker handling
The weekend includes 2 full days of training with a professional coach onboard providing in the moment direction, feedback and advice. A debrief will be held on the Saturday night and there will be a virtual debrief following the training weekend.
You will need to arrive at the boat on the FRIDAY afternoon to help prepare the boat for the weekend.
COST: £320 (the costs do not include fuel, moorings, food and drinks)
Note: Sometimes we crew with 8 on board, and sometimes with 9. The boat can only accommodate 8 to sleep, so one person will need to sleep ashore. If there are no immediate volunteers to do so, then lots are drawn and the cost is split between the crew.By booking onto this event you are confirming you have read, understood and accepted the Offshore Terms and Conditions
*For all race training events, the security deposit liability will be £100 (not £200 as per race events)
