Private Dinghy Sailing Coaching (1:1 or 1:2) London
Improve your sailing quickly with personalised dinghy coaching on the River Thames in London.
These 4-hour private sailing sessions are designed for sailors who want focused coaching from one of our RYA qualified dinghy instructors. Whether you are completely new to sailing, returning after time away from the sport, or looking to improve racing performance and boat speed, the session will be designed around your goals.
Training takes place from the London Corinthian Sailing Club clubhouse in Hammersmith, one of the most active sailing clubs in London, with regular dinghy sailing and racing on the River Thames.
With 1:1 or 1:2 coaching, you benefit from direct instruction, immediate feedback, and the flexibility to focus on the skills that will make the biggest difference to your sailing.
What You Will Learn
Each session is tailored to you. Your instructor will discuss your experience beforehand and design a personalised sailing training session to help you progress quickly.
Examples of coaching topics include:
- Learning to sail a dinghy (beginners welcome)
- Improving boat handling and confidence
- Tacking and gybing techniques
- Sailing efficiently upwind and downwind
- Racing techniques and tactics
- Improving boatspeed and sail trim
- Sailing with spinnakers
- Learning to sail an ILCA / Laser dinghy
- River sailing techniques for the tidal Thames
- Anything else you want to cover!
Sessions combine on-the-water coaching with shore-based theory, depending on what will help you progress fastest.
How the Session Works
Your private 4-hour coaching session will be run at the same time as one of the club's regular sailing sessions to benefit from enhanced safety cover.
You will benefit from:
- A dedicated instructor coaching you directly
- The opportunity to practice what you''re learning in real sailing situations such as club sailing or championship racing (if you want to)
- Coaching from a powerboat (or in the boat with you), providing live feedback and a comprehensive shoreside debrief
Your instructor will provide guidance both on the water and ashore, helping you refine technique, understand the theory behind what you are doing, and build confidence.
