Club Race Officer Training

CLUB RACE OFFICER LEVEL 1, FREE COURSE

Available to members only.

We are again offering these free Club Race officer courses throughout the 2017 sailing season. No previous experience needed and here's what a recent student wrote... 'Training session was excellently presented and, for someone who doesn't have a huge amount of interest in dinghy sailing, I'm enthused about officiating my first race'....

Volunteering to assist the Race Officer in the Race Box is expected of members who sail at Hammersmith and is a great way to learn how to race on our reach. Even if you don't sail on the river, it's a great way to build knowledge of how racing is run anywhere. So even if you just plan to sail on yachts with some racing on the Solent it would be worth your while.

The course run at the club is free, lasts for 2 hours and will give you the skills needed for deputy RO. What you will learn is:

Preparations

Familiarisation with the Race Box

Starting a race

Managing a race

Finishing a race

Results sheets

Tidy up

The dates for the course are can be found in the club calendar.

Places are limited to 6 per course, first come first serve.
