The Maiden Factor!

Spring Talks: Tuesday 9th May, 8pm
In 1989, Tracy Edwards MBE skippered 'Maiden', the first all-female crewed yacht to race round the World.
To widespread astonishment, the crew won several legs and achieved 2nd place overall in its class.
27 years later, Tracy has brought Maiden back home - gaining wide coverage in the BBC and other news media this week (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-39702473).
This is the story of that round the World race 27 years ago, and the boat's astonishing tale since. It's also the story of Tracy's new mission to use the yacht 'Maiden' as an iconic reminder of what girls can achieve if allowed to - with Tracy taking a stand for girls around the World, helping enable the education of those not afforded that basic human right.
Tracy is an incredibly charismatic, entertaining speaker – this is one talk not to miss!
Please note that this talk is free, but LCSC requests that attendees make a contribution to Tracy's Maiden charity at the door.
So do come along, buy a drink from the bar and join us in the Ballroom at 8pm – to hear a really inspiring story!
