Summer Championship Comes to a Close

The Summer Championship ended on a great high on 1 November with some brilliant, but challenging sailing conditions. Twenty-one sailors took on gusts of 30 knots plus and some big waves in the middle of the river in three tight races.

The race officers set up a challenging course, 5-4-3-1, with each successive race featuring more laps of the course. The final race featured a marathon three laps. Although hotly contested at times, Valentin Nedyalkov went on to finish first in all three races, and take the championship title overall.

It was an amazing end to our first championship series which has seen a huge variety of conditions, from light winds against big spring tides, to days with strong gusts and big waves.

We look forward to getting back out on the water soon for the winter series.

Congratulations to the series winners and all those that took part. Thank you very much to Tom Vanneste for managing the series and to all those who volunteered in the race box, safety boat and on the pontoon.
