Thames Turtles Launches!

The weather was ideal for our Thames Turtles launch event on 10 July. The event was targeted at member's children aged 2-9 years. All ten of them had rides up to Barnes Railway Bridge one boat staying underneath to experience the rumble of the passing train. On the return journey, the Thames Turtles and their adults disembarked on Treasure Island (the Eyot). The drop bow of "Mollie Johnson" came into its own enabling everyone to keep their feet dry. The next task was to track down Pirates Ellen and Debs who had the goody bags.
Then it was into the safety boats to speed back to the club for snacks including pizza and cake! After some jig saws and colouring in, the seven children over 4 years old went out to sail with their adult in Fusions. There wasn't enough wind to sail very fast but paddling to the opposite shore kept crews busy. Some were "rescued" by the safety boat and towed, at varying speeds, back to the pontoons.
A great time was had by all so many thanks to the volunteer Safety Boat Captains and Island Pirates.
Our next Thames Turtles is event is on 21 August and there will be more dates added to the calendar soon
