The first weekend of November welcomed back our annual Hot Toddy event, with close competitions in both the timed passage and the hot toddy making elements of the day. The event, brilliantly organised by Cassie and Stuart, was well attended, with 86 members taking part across thirteen boats.

Saturday started with bright and crisp conditions for the timed passage from Hamble to Cowes, with the wind building throughout the day. Competition was very close with Petruchio, skippered by club commodore Ray, completing the passage first, just two minutes ahead of nearest rival Rho, skippered by Ruaraidh. Rod's boat was the first of the Oceanis 37 fleet to complete the course, coming in fourth behind Oarsome Dream in third place.

The competition was again very close in the hot toddy making contest. The crew of Aeolus came third in the popular vote with their bespoke cocktail-making experience. With just one vote separating them from the winners, Rat and the crew of Reunion brought a French-themed experience to guests with a calvados cocktail, served alongside escargot and Toulouse sausages handmade by Ben. Just pipping them to the top spot were Mark's Oarsome Dream crew with their Father Ted themed boat and a sloe gin and apple cocktail served from a teapot.

To round off a fabulous day, members enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Island Sailing Club followed by a live band and dancing.
