The Women's Open Keelboat Championship (WOKC)
The Women's Open Keelboat Championship (WOKC) is a national event for all women crew hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club. The event is held on the Solent and is based out of their clubhouse in Hamble.
London Corinthian Sailing Club is excited to be entering a team into the WOKC event this year. This will include two training weekends in April and May with Helena and the coaching team and will culminate in the 3-day event at the beginning of June.
All LCSC women sailors are welcome to participate in a competitive but supportive environment. Beginners will be supported through the training weekends and put into crew positions they feel comfortable with. Experienced sailors will be asked to challenge themselves and develop towards leadership and race skipper roles in the future.
The racing itself is inshore, short distance racing in competitive fleets. There are multiple races per day. It will be challenging and fast paced sailing, in other words, a lot of adrenaline fuelled fun! The boat will be a Relflex 38 and is based out of Hamble.
We expect the WOCK crew to attend both training weekends to allow enough time to practice together. Attendance at at least one training weekend is required to qualify to race.
Please note that this is expected to be a popular event. In the case of oversubscription, priority will be given to LCSC members who can commit to attending both training weekends.
The training weekend will be coordinated with the wider LCSC Advanced Training weekends however, you will always be allocated the same boat and kept together as a crew each weekend to help "gel" as a team.
