Solent Cruise, June 7th - 9th, Hamble to Poole & back
This event is currently full. Please contact the admin office if you are interested to be added to the wait-list.
Following the success of last years Poole trip, we've decided to put it on again. It's one of the few weekend trips that gets us out of the confines of the solent and into the English Chanel. It's a great trip length, with a very lively destination at the end.
With the sailing season well under way, we'll be covering about 90 miles over the weekend, and with the stretch in the evening, may even head off on the Friday evening. We sail down the solent and out past the needles, and head west across Christchurch Bay to Poole Bay. The entrance to Poole harbour is very narrow and tidal, but once through, it opens up into Europes largest natural harbour. The harbour is a site of nature conservation, a wetland teeming with wading birds with many international protections in place. It is a Ramsar site which recognises wetlands of international importance particularly for wildfoul.
Poole itself has a great selection of places for us to dine and unwind after the days sailing. It's important to do do a head count before setting sail on the Sunday morning, to ensure all crew are present and accounted for.
Weather permitting, on the way home we'll stop in Falmouth or Newtown River for lunch, before heading back up to Hamble for about 4pm.
Your Skipper will be an experienced offshore sailor who is a member of Corinthians and has volunteered to Skipper this trip. Whilst not an instructor, they will be very happy to share their knowledge and love of sailing. You can get as involved in the sailing as much as you like, and we all help with cooking and clearing up.
The price for the weekend will be £145 per person, on top of which we'll have the usual shared expenses of Food & Drink, Mooring fees, and fuel.
Please sign up online to secure your place. Places are issued on a 1st come 1st serve basis, so don't delay.
Please note the standard Offshore T&Cs apply - see http://www.lcsc.org.uk/sailing/yachting-general
