RYA VHF/SRC Radio Course
A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio or who wants to have the knowledge to charter. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures.
The Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.

This will be a hands on classroom based course with equipment, provided at the London Corinthian Sailing Club (W6 9TA)
Duration: This course will be run over 1 day. The written theory & practical assessment will take place towards the end of the day.
Prompt 9h00 start - 17h00. Assessments will follow on from 17h00 - 20h00
Cost: £150 payable to secure your place for the classroom course. An additional £76 exam fee is payable directly to the RYA (see details below)

RequirementsThere is some upfront reading materials prior to you attending the course (you should aim to spend at least three hours on the materials provided)
This is mandatory to give everyone a basic understanding of the materials and to ensure the syllabus can be covered. The pre-reading material will be shared with you upon booking.
Prior to taking the exam, use the RYA online exam payment system to pay for the exam and receive a personalised exam application form. Print this out and take it with you to the exam, together with your eligibility documents and passport sized photo.
