RYA VHF/SRC Radio Course

29th - 30 April

A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio or who wants to have the knowledge to charter. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.

Duration: This course will be split over two evenings. The written theory & practical assessment will take place towards the end of the second evening.

Prompt 18:30 - 21:30 Wed 30th April (there may be a slight overrun on timing for some on Wed due to the written theory and practical assessment )

Cost: £100 payable to secure your place for the classroom course. An additional £75 exam fee is payable directly to the RYA (see details below)

PLEASE NOTE

Requirements:

There is some upfront reading materials and videos to watch prior to you attending the course. This is mandatory to give everyone a basic understanding of the materials and to ensure the syllabus can be covered. This will be a hands on classroom based course with equipment provided. The pre-reading and watching materials will be shared with you upon booking.

Prior to taking the exam, use the RYA online exam payment system to pay for the exam and receive a personalised exam application form. Print this out and take it with you to the exam, together with your eligibility documents and passport sized photo.
