RYA Radar Course - (two evening sessions 23rd + 30th April)
This is the first session of a two evening Radar course giving you an understanding of radar as an aid to navigation and collision avoidance.
The International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea state that if you have a radar, you must know how to use it!
The course explains how the set works, how to interpret the picture and understand the uses and limitations of your set.
You need no prior knowledge, we recommend you bring a pencil, notebook and a plotter & dividers if you have them.
Course topics include:
- How the radar set works
- How its adjustments and features affect the way it works
- Target definition
- Radar reflectors
- Types of radar display
- Radar plotting
- The use of radar in navigation and collision avoidance
- Radar plotting using radar plotting sheets
- Working our closest point of approach
- Collision avoidance within IRPCS Rule 1
Cost: £135 (includes course materials +certificate)
This RYA Radar Course will be split over 2 evenings - Tues 23rd April + Tues 30th April. Timings: 18:30 - 21:30
Both sessions needs to be attended in full for certification.
On successful completion of the course, your instructor will hand you your certificate.
This is a classroom based course held at the LCSC, W69TA.
