History of the London Maritime club:
The Club was founded 10 years ago for maritime colleagues, at the famous Dukes Bar in St James, where the James Bond Martini comes from.
The involvement with LCSC started at the LCSC 125th anniversary rally during the pontoon party where they mixed martinis on Peter Ryan's boat TC for club members
This was followed by the LCSC James Bond film and martinis night at the club, and Al Fresco martini's on the club forecourt during the club closure this summer.
Recommended ingredients:
Standard Martini
50 mls Gin or Vodka ( or both for a vesper)
Around 10 mls of vermouth or less for a proper extra dry martini
Large lump ice cubes - smaller ones or ice slices melt and dilute the drink too much
Lemon zest peel, or olives (plus juice for a dirty martini)
Chill martini glass and shaker beforehand
Vermouths - extra dry
Nolly Pratt
Martini Extra Dry
Belsazar - Dry German Vermouth ( interesting complex flavours)
These all go well with a twist of lemon, or olives
Others
Cocci Americano less dry, slightly fruity, and perfect with olives or a dirty martini
Cocci Barolo Chinato, red wine based good for Christmas martinis
Lillet Blanc fortified wine more fruity, great with a orange zest twist
The Chairman's Christmas Martini
Blood Orange Vodka plus UK Sacred Vermouth - highly complex mix of 30 botanicals, and fruit giving a good Christmas spice flavour + grated orange dark chocolate, cinnamon, and a twist of orange zest
Looking forward to seeing you on Friday.
Bottoms up!
