Dinghy - overview of courses run
The Club has been organising dinghy training courses for many seasons from our London clubhouse on the River Thames at Hammersmith. These courses are very popular and many members began by taking sailing courses with the club.
RYA accredited courses run by the club:
RYA Level One and Level Two courses are taught in RS Visions, a good all round training dinghy and are ideal for those just starting out who want to learn to sail.
Our Sailing Skills Courses (3 hour modules) and our Skills & Advice sessions (2 hour modules) are aimed at helping sailors further improve their dinghy sailing skills with a bias towards sailing on a river and/or racing.
RYA courses are mostly open to Non Members and for some courses the price includes temporary membership and we will also waive the £50 joining fee if you decide to join the club post the course.
Powerboat & Safety boat courses
This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. The course introduces you to boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations. The course can be taken inland or on the coast and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. For more details go here
