Yacht's Covid Policy

  • No more than six people on board during sailing
  • Members of two households only are permitted to sleep on board and the rest of the crew will sleep on shore in hotels/camping etc.
  • Cabins will be allocated so that sleeping arrangements comply with the social distancing guidance.
  • On shore accommodation will be arranged in advance by the organiser and will be agreed by the crew and the skipper. Any additional costs will be divided equally between the crew.
  • Please inform the organiser if you are coming on the trip alone or with another member of your household and/or any support bubbles, so that members of the same household and/or existing bubbles can share cabins

  • The itinerary will be decided by the organiser and the skipper. The crew will be consulted and the itinerary is subject to change depending on the current covid situation.

  • You will be asked to provide a Health Declaration when booking the trip, that asks if you have, or have had, the Covid-19 symptoms, or reasonably believe you have had the disease.
  • All crew members must take their temperatures before they arrive at the boat and the skipper will assume that you are fit to be onboard. It is your duty to inform the skipper if you are unwell. We are requesting that crew members use their own digital thermometers. Please find a copy of the declaration below.

  • The heads can be used we will ask that everyone sits to avoid unnecessary mess
  • The heads must be cleaned and disinfected regularly. All crew members are responsible for ensuring that the heads are clean. We advise that the heads are cleaned four times per day
  • Cleaning the heads entails wiping down the toilet seat, pump handle and basin and taps with antibacterial wipes or a disinfected cloth and squirting disinfectant down the toilet
  • There will be no showering on board, crew members can shower at the marina (if available)

  • While onboard, all crew members must be thoughtful and use common sense and not take unnecessary risks.
  • Crew must be spaced out while on deck and each crew member has a responsibility to observe the '1 metre plus' rule while onboard.
  • Only 1 or 2 crew at a time will be allowed below in the cabin while at sea.
  • Frequent and regular use of cleaning stations in the heads, galley, nav station and on-deck for hands and touch surfaces.
  • Only crew from the same household, or support bubbles, will share cabins or be allowed to break '1metre plus' spacing. Other crew will be paired to reduce wider mixing of crew

  • If you have symptoms before the start of the course, please stay at home and isolate, or you will be asked to travel home (not using public transport).
  • You'll be issued a refund/reschedule.
  • If you or the skipper suspect that you have Covid-19 before the start of the trip you will not be allowed onboard. If you become ill before your event you must stay at home
  • If one of the crew is taken ill (with suspected Covid-19 symptoms) during the weekend they will be isolated in a cabin until disembarkation. The health services will be notified to investigate, and to agree appropriate next actions.
  • Where a crew member is taken ill the skipper and remaining crew will make a decision as to whether the weekend can safely continue or not
  • The Skipper is responsible for the health and safety of the crew. Where a member of crew does not respect their own or other's health and safety then the skipper has the authority to order the crew member to leave the boat

  • Crew Members must bring their own masks and gloves for preparing food (this could be considered as part of the victualling for the weekend).
  • Crew members are all responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the boat. The charter company does not provide cleaning materials so cleaning materials must be included by the crew as part of victualling.
  • We advise that the following items are purchased: 2X antibacterial kitchen spray, hand sanitisers, bleach for the heads, 2 X large packs of antibacterial wipes, jay cloths, plastic gloves and face masks
  • The preparation and serving of food and drinks will be done by only one member of crew at a time and only after preparatory cleaning of surfaces and food packaging.
  • Each crew member must allocate themselves a dedicated cup, crockery and cutlery for the duration of the trip, which must be washed by the crew member and stored safely by the crew member.
  • Crews will eat on deck where possible, where poor weather prevents this meals will be provided in a number of servings to reduce the number of crew without face-coverings at any one time.

  • Facemasks must be worn apart from when outside
  • Crew members are responsible for regular cleaning of touched surfaces above and below deck
  • We have been informed by the charter company that the boat will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, before and after each trip by the charter company
  • On changes of roles on deck i.e. swapping helms, the touch surfaces and hands of both crew members should be cleaned
  • Gloves are to be used whilst handling the wheel

  • Your skipper and possibly other members of crew are First-Aiders and will follow the Government advice for First responders and First Aid treatments where there is a potential Covid-19 exposure.
