Offshore Race Training
Race Training Practical
Join the boat Thursday evening, 14th April - late afternoon Monday 18th.
The training sessions will be broken down into a number of elements, and be adapted to the conditions expected. There will be a zoom briefing the day before the start day to go through what you'll be covering during the training session. During the session there will be debriefs on the days activity, and a final summary debrief a couple of days after the event by zoom to cover the main areas of learning, and events of the session.
Areas that are likely to get covered are
1 Spinnaker work on the dock, talking through the manoeuvres, and crew positions
2 Spinnaker hoist / drops / gybes at sea
3 Spinnaker dropping techniques
4 Downwind sailing and sail trim
5 Upwind boat handling & sail trim
5 Starts, Match starts, and races
6 Sail Selection
The exact format of the weekend will be selected depending on the experience on each of the boats, and crews will be made up of beginners, intermediates, trainee skippers, and existing race skippers.
