EAST COAST SAILING ADVENTURE - Friday 30th August to Sunday 1st September
Do you fancy a change from sailing in the Solent? Something a bit different? Quieter waterways but interesting sailing?
Club member James Albery has been sailing the area for years with his family and friends and highly recommends it.
Others agree, saying the Thames Estuary and East Coast of England offers excellent cruising with many interesting rivers, harbours and anchorages to explore and enjoy. With no crowds of boats or people and few big marinas it offers a place where you can get back to essentials and enjoy sailing and exploration in peace and tranquillity.
The charter yachts will be 35 foot Jeanneau Sun Odyssey's and comfortable for 5-7 people, but obviously dependant upon final numbers. We will meet up on Friday evening at Chatham Maritime Marina and may have dinner at the Pier Five Bar & Kitchen. Saturday morning is likely to start with breakfast on board and the safety briefing before we set sail. Your Skipper will be an experienced offshore sailor who is a member of Corinthians and has volunteered to Skipper this trip. Whilst not an instructor, they will be very happy to share their knowledge and love of sailing. You can get as involved in the sailing as much as you like, and we all help with cooking and clearing up.
We will return to Chatham Marina at around 4.00pm on Sunday afternoon for a quick tidy-up before heading home.
The price of this weekend is great value at £125 per person (not including food & drink or mooring fees and fuel which will be shared amongst all on board).
