Corfu, Greece Friday 28 April – Wed 3 May 2017
Main aim will be to visit other ports on Corfu going south down the East Coast then on to Paxos possibly visiting mainland Greece at Sivota or Parga.
Corfu Old Town has been listed as a Unesco World Heritage site since 2007
The Old venetian town is between Gouvia Marina, 10mins north, and the airport 10 mins to the south. We may stop here on way back Tuesday PM.
Gaios, the main port of Paxos is a charming town and spreads itself along the waterfront
St Nicholas Island forms a natural breakwater where there are two small churches St Nicholas and St Ioannis and an old Venetian fort built in 1423 which for many years protected the area.
Lakka is the northern port of Paxos set in a gorgeous horse shoe shaped bay and flanked by high ground covered in olive and cypress trees. The bay which is almost completely sheltered from the open sea is excellent for swimming and makes a perfect lunch stop.
Parga is a mainland town 15NM east of Paxos . Constructed along the slopes of a hill, around the port creating a picturesque atmosphere. On top of the hill above the port are the ruins of an old Venetian Castle.
Voutoumi beach, on Anti Paxos, Our likely lunch stop on way to Parga to/from Paxos, as recommended by a Greek whose family live on Corfu.
General overview of the area. Our route will be within this area and we can do longer sails with good winds and longer stops if calm.
Trip Notes and Booking:
The beauty of this trip is that you can have 4 days sailing, but you only have to take 1 day's holiday! Fly out after work on Friday - the boats will be available from 17.00 on Friday.
Fly back late on Tuesday evening - boats need to be vacated by 09.00 on Wednesday morning.
There may be an option to extend to 7 days if enough people want to do this. 7 days would allow a return via the west and North coasts of Corfu taking in perhaps Palaiokastrita, the Northern (or outer) Islands, and Kassiopi. Let us know if you are interested in this option?
