RYA\ISAF Safety Course
LCSC has formed a partnership with KTY Yachts for training in ISAF sea survival techniques,
training which is mandatory for sailors taking part in the Fastnet Race and other ocean races.
KTY Yachts run their training courses from Sarisbury Green, next to the Hamble River and
familiar to many LCSC sailors.
KTY Yachts are running 12 x 2-day RYA/ISAF Offshore Safety courses throughout 2009, and LCSC
members who book direct (contact details below) will receive a discount. The standard price for
2009 is £190 (£160 for LCSC members) for the 2-day course and the optional first aid certificate
is £40 (£20 for LCSC members). Make sure you mention you are an LCSC member when booking, to
claim your discount.
A 2 day Sea Survival, Seamanship and Emergencies and First Aid course developed to provide
training for skippers and crews who encounter rough weather and problems at sea. Day 2 follows
RYA Sea Survival.
Day 2 covers damage limitation modules in jury rigging in the event of losing mast or rudder,
flooding, drogues, sea anchors, firefighting, man overboard search and recovery, heavy weather
sailing and rapid response first aid. To quote a participant "this course is the most fun with
the most information".
