X332 Training

Member Organised Offshore Event

In the context of the Warsash Spring Series two race training sessions will be held at the above dates (Saturdays) on the yacht "Exabyte", with a few places available to LCSC members on a first come first serve basis. LCSC members will be training together with the regular racing crew and we will rotate positions during the day.

On 13th April we will be training by setting a short windward/leeward course using Solent racing marks. The 27th April training will be coordinated by X-Yachts UK who are hoping to get up to ten X332s training. The format of that day will include real mini-races, with X-Yachts personnel providing coaching and debrief.

Areas we will be covering in both days include general boat handling (crew work, tacking, gibing, crew maneuvers, positions on the boat), beating and running (boat speed upwind and downwind (getting in the grove), car positions, sail shapes function of wind and wave conditions; spinnaker handling, hoist and drop), mark approaching and rounding (safe early spinnaker drops, crew work and positions in the boat, sail settings, halyard tension etc), starting (getting the boat to line on time, crew work combination between helm, nav/tactician, time caller) and tides & tactics (course choices upwind/downwind function of local tidal and wind conditions).

There will be a nominal charge of 30 to cover expenses. Apart for the excess, the boat is fully insured for racing against accident and third party liability. However this does not include personal property of injuries, for which you will have to make your own arrangements. You are surely aware that offshore racing, although normally good fun, can be dangerous; you are taking part at your own risk.
