Offshore Races
RORC is the principal organiser of offshore
races in the UK, including the Fastnet; JOG (Junior Offshore Group) also
organise many racing events. A number of crews participating in these races
will be from LCSC, either in whole or in part. The club always takes an active
part in offshore racing with many teams campaigning each year for the Fastnet
race.
This section contains current events the club is participating in, with
bookings available through the offshore race
calendar, or by clicking on the event on the menu.
LCSC crews have had many successes in previous years, including the odd
first in class and many Fastnet campaigns completed. (A number of miles in RORC
races is needed to qualify for the Fastnet race; these crews stick together for
a campaign beginning early in the year and leading up to the Fastnet race
itself).
For the full programme of their offshore races see the Royal Ocean Racing Club and JOG websites. LCSC crews have also taken part
in other offshore races organised abroad, such as the Rolex Middle Sea Race.
Brief descriptions of the clubs offshore programme and reports of some of
the previous entries and the remainder of the RORC and JOG events available on
the menu. The exact programme in which LCSC will be participating varies from
year to year. See Race crews pages
for information about how to get involved in offshore races in the current
year.
If any particular event interests you that we are not currently
participating in, please contact Trudy
Netherwood, as the club may be able to put together an entry with
sufficient demand.
