Club Handbook
Charlie Storr says…
I have volunteered to organise a new club handbook, and as I understand the last one was published some years ago it seems a good time to get on with a new one. I would like to get feedback from club members as to what they feel should be incorporated in such a handbook. Due to the amount of work involved it is anticipated that this will not be published every year, but possibly every second or third year. However this decision will need to be taken once I have found out exactly how much work this edition is!
The basic layout is likely to be paperback, A5 format.with a glossy cover. Cover not yet designed!
The circulation is intended to be to club members only.
I propose the following information will be included:
Full list of club officers, committees and committee members and list of responsibilities.
A short history of the club
A short article explaining the club's relationship with the trust
The Club Constitution
The rules of the club, including subscription rates and admission policy
Full list of members, including names and addresses, name of boat, type and size.
Details of club activities, including brief details of the course generally offered, with information as to how to make bookings.
Dinghy
Starting sequence including illustration of flags used
Illustration of racing marks - perhaps similar to the article by in the current newsletter by Simon Hills (subject to permission of course)
List of regular dinghy events (but not dates) and brief description. ie Winter points Harley Cup 24 hour race etc etc
Local racing rules
Offshore
Club policy on how events are organised and minimum qualifications necessary for club skippers
List of regular events (but not dates) ie Hamble Spring series races Easter Cruise etc etc
I would welcome constructive comments from members as to what should be included by the end of March please so that I can get on and start getting some of the details sorted out"
Thanks and regards
Charlie Storr
