May - 1st Bank Hols Fri 4th – Mon 7th May – East Solent Cruise –Chichester Harbour, Bembridge

Some guys once sang "GO WEST" but we are heading East, East to explore Chichester Harbour and Bembridge.

Come and join us on the early May Bank Holiday weekend (Friday 4th to Monday 7th May) for a few days of sailing and see what the Eastern Solent has to offer.

Chichester Harbour is one of the few remaining undeveloped coastal areas in Southern England and remains relatively wild. Its wide expanses and intricate creeks are a major wildlife haven and among some of Britain's most popular boating waters. The area has over 15 miles of navigable deepwater channels, with various towns and villages spread amongst the channels. Being fairly sheltered it is very popular with dinghy sailors and it is thought that over 12,000 small boats are based in the area. There are numerous mooring opportunities within although we will be heading right up to Chichester Marina at the Eastern end of the harbour.

Chichester Marina is one of the UK's largest marinas and has great facilities for visiting yachtsmen. There is a friendly yacht club and a Boat House Cafe offering breakfast, lunch and dinner all served with lovely views out across the harbour. There is also a Marine Super Store chandlery for stocking up on any essentials.

After Chichester it's a short hop over to Bembridge.

Bembridge Harbour is a largely drying lagoon on the East coast of the Isle of Wight, bounded by sand spits on the seaward side and accessed via a twisting, dredged channel running in from St Helens Fort. The villages of Bembridge and St Helens offer a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs and are well worth exploring.

We will meet on Friday evening in Hamble Point Marina and will be returning to Hamble Point Marina by 5pm on Monday.

The chartered yachts will most likely be 35-40 foot and accommodate 6-8 people.

Your Skipper will be a well-qualified experienced offshore sailor who is a member of Corinthians. He/she will be very happy to share their knowledge and love of sailing. You can get as involved in the sailing as much as you like, and we all help with cooking and clearing up, etc.

Solo sailors, either beginners or experienced are all welcome, but it is likely you will share a cabin with another club member. We do our best to accommodate friend requests, but may need to balance out crew experience etc.

The price for the long weekend will be £200 plus any on-board expenses that will be shared amongst all aboard (food, drinks, fuel and mooring fees).

Please book and pay for your place on-line now as boats often fill fast!

The standard Offshore T&Cs apply - see http://www.lcsc.org.uk/sailing/yachting-general
