Solent Cruise - Round the Island the wrong way! CANCELLED

13th - 15 July 2018

July 13-15th – Round the Island the wrong way!

This event has unfortunately been cancelled

If you can't make the real "Round the Island (RTI) Race", or are put off by the thought of being in the midst of 1,400 other boats, then join us the weekend after RTI for an unforgettable trip when we go Round the Island the wrong way!

It's 50 nautical miles around the Isle of Wight and the tides are good for going clockwise, rather than the more usual anti-clockwise route.

Starting from Hamble, we plan to head out east towards the No Man's Land Fort and the other Victorian forts, past the Bembridge Ledge buoy and along the south-east coast across Sandown Bay to the most southerly tip of the Island - St Catherine's Point. Heading west, we will go round the iconic Needles and the Needles Lighthouse. We plan to head into Lymington for Saturday night, where we can relax for a pub supper in a local hostelry.

A more leisurely sail back up the Solent on Sunday, before heading back into Hamble Point Marina at around 4pm on Sunday afternoon for a quick tidy-up before we head home.

The cost of the weekend is £160pp (plus shared expenses).

Please note that this trip is dependent on suitable weather, especially wind. Plans may change if the skippers decide that the conditions aren't suitable.

Your Skipper will be an experienced offshore sailor who is a member of Corinthians. He/she will be very happy to share their knowledge and love of sailing. You can get as involved in the sailing as much as you like, and we all help with cooking and clearing up, etc.

Solo sailors, either beginners or experienced are all welcome. It's likely you will share a cabin with another club member. We do our best to accommodate friend requests, but may need to balance out crew experience etc.

At £160 for the weekend, the club weekends are considerably cheaper than commercial trips – and a lot cheaper than the real RTI Race!

Note: you will also need to pay your share of on board expenses including food, drinks, and fuel and mooring fees.
