Saturday 9th September to Saturday 16th September 2017

Join us for a sailing holiday on the Italian island of Sardinia – visiting Costa Smerelda, "the Emerald Coast", famous for its white sandy beaches, beautiful crystal clear turquoise waters, stunning granite formations and jet set lifestyle.

Throughout history, it's been the landing point for many conquerors (Phoenicians, Romans, Carthaginians, Spaniards) who have contributed to the formation of Sardinia's culture and traditions.

Sardinia is a World Heritage Site, composed of 8000 nuraghi, dolmens, menhirs, megalithic circles, hundreds of tombs carved into the rock, Phoenician and Roman ruins.

DRAFT ITINERARY - Subject to change according to conditions, and skipper/crew preferences

Saturday - DAY 1 : Embark at Portisco on the jet set Costa Smeralda ("Emerald Coast").

http://www.marinadiportisco.it/marina-from-the-sky

We start our yacht charter in Sardinia from Marina di Portisco on the chic Costa Smeralda, "the Emerald Coast", an area buzzing with designer shopping, piazzas and stunning views.

Sunday - DAY 2 : Cannigione (15nm) - A sheltered harbour with good seafood restaurants.

The first day will be a relaxing cruise to get used to the boat. We leave Portisco in the morning and sail north to Cannigione – which is is located in a natural deep fjord at the end of the Gulf of Arzachena. There are various beautiful beaches and anchorages in the bay. We will moor in the harbour and explore the village.

Monday - DAY 3 : Visit a couple of small bays in Santa Stefano and on the mainland, then sail to La Maddalena harbour on the main island of the Archipelago.

La Maddalena is a National Park - a marine park scattered with islands and sandy beaches, including the famous pink beach "Spiaggia Rosa" on Budelli. The seven main islands offer peaceful anchorages.

La Maddalena is a traditional fishing harbour, picturesque and bustling with harbour-side restaurants.

(Plan B - sometimes in peak season the small harbour is very crowded, so we may overnight in Palau on the mainland instead).

Tuesday - DAY 4 : Lavezzi (15nm) is a marine park with fabulous snorkelling and diving.

Lavezzi Island is 6 n.m. away from Santa Teresa di Gallura. The best bay here is Cala Lazarina in the South-West side of the island. There are no inhabitants but cows and donkeys. On the back of the beach there is the cemetery where the crew of the French frigate Semillante is buried which sunk on these rocks on 1885. Lavezzi is one of the most beautiful islands of the area.

Wednesday - DAY 5 : Bonifacio (21nm) is on the south coast of the French Island of Corsica. The dramatic entrance through the narrow opening in the cliffs opens into a beautiful bay with anchorages and moorings on the town quay.

Bonifaciois a star attraction in Corsica, with the Old Town precariously teetering on the edge of the imposing limestone cliffs. With a labyrinth of narrow streets and medieval buildings fully encircled by the citadel walls, the Old Town is definitely worth the climb up from the harbour. The view from the cliff top across the Maddalena Islands is stunning.

Thursday - DAY 6 : Porto Massimo (16nm)

A small harbour on the north eastern coast of La Maddalena.

Friday - DAY 7 : Return to Portisco (18nm).

On our last night, we can get a taxi to nearby glitzy Porto Cervo - the millionaire's playground on the Costa Smeralda. Burn your credit card in the designer shops hidden among the alleyways, sip a cocktail overlooking the mega-yachts and watch the Gucci-clad glitterati glide by!
