Solent Cruise Weekends

Join us for a weekend's sailing in the Solent!

A Solent Sailing Weekend is an excellent way to sample the fun and challenges of offshore cruising. The Solent is the home of British Yachting – and offers incredibly varied and sometimes challenging sailing.

Corinthians Solent Cruising weekends are open to all members – whether you're a salty old sea dog, a first timer, or maybe a dinghy sailor wondering what offshore sailing is all about.

We usually start on Friday evening, meeting up at Hamble Point Marina where we board our charter boat. We may have supper at the Ketch Rigger (the pub in the Marina) or at a different pub in Hamble Village.

Saturday morning is likely to start with a cooked breakfast on board and the safety briefing before we set sail. Exactly where we go depends on winds and tides, but there are many options.

We may cruise east around the Solent Forts, or west to the world-famous Needles, passing the towering chalk cliffs at Freshwater Bay and the multi-coloured sandstone cliffs of Alum Bay. We might anchor near Queen Victoria's favourite Osbourne House for lunch on board, explore the scenic Beaulieu River or secluded meandering estuaries such as Newtown Creek. Wherever we go, you are guaranteed to see a lot of other boats, big and small, old and new, under sail and motor, all out enjoying these unique waters.

We usually spend the Saturday night in a different marina – often on the Isle of Wight, where it's likely we will sample the local cuisine in a local hostelry.

After breakfast on Sunday, we will set sail again across the Solent, seeing more sights along the way and probably eating lunch on the way back.

We return to Hamble Point Marina at around 4.00pm on Sunday afternoon for a quick tidy-up before we head home.

Your Skipper will be a well-qualified experienced offshore sailor who is a member of Corinthians. He/she will be very happy to share their knowledge and love of sailing. You can get as involved in the sailing as much as you like, and we all help with cooking and clearing up, etc.

Solo sailors, either beginners or experienced are all welcome, but it is likely you will share a cabin with another club member. We do our best to accommodate friend requests, but may need to balance out crew experience etc.

At £160 for the weekend, the club weekends are cheaper than commercial trips. Note: you will also need to pay your share of on board expenses including food, drinks, and fuel and mooring fees.

Please book on line and then pay Berenice in the usual way.
