7 - 14 September : MARTHA'S VINEYARD
Martha's Vineyard Friday 7th – Friday 14th September
It's no exaggeration to say that this might be the best trip ever - in the pantheon of great trips organized by London Corinthians.....we're off to the birth place and spiritual home of the Americas Cup - Newport, Rhode Island in the USA.
And we're going in Sept when the race was traditionally held - back in the days when boats were boats - so expect great sailing conditions. ...so great that we're planning on the wind taking us to Martha's Vineyard and back in one week.
The actual route will be determined by prevailing conditions but is likely to include a night en route on Cape Cod or Block Island as well as several nights on the Vineyard.
As if that wasn't enough to tempt the most avid sailor then there is all the history of the area which might warrant a few extra days holiday off the boat, before or after our sailing excursion. As a bonus, the Newport International Boat Show, one of the largest in the country, will be in full swing upon our return to port September 14. Newport is home to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Jackie O's childhood home where she married JFK on Ocean Drive, and the incredible Bellvue Ave with the summer cottages of the Vanderbilts etc which make Versailles look like a garden shed!!
Martha's Vineyard is the holiday destination of the smart set and Presidents, so we'll fit right in as long as we bring the uniform of chinos and poloshirts!! And of course it's the start of the New England Fall season so why not stay on for few days "leaf peeping" or head to Boston or the Big Apple for a few days of bright lights.
But spaces are limited and we are unlikely to get any further boats so early booking is advisable.
Unlike other trips this charter is Fri-Fri and the boats are moored up to a buoy. Therefore we're asking everyone to get there by 7pm on Fri 7th September to board the boats and then set sail early the following day, so this will mean an extra days holiday.
