Sailing Further Afield

Every year there are opportunities to take part in Dinghy trips away from the Club. These can have a skills development slant or just be for fun (or a combination of both). Some examples of the usually annual trips are:

National Sailing School in Weymouth (Long Weekend)

A chance to get some top level coaching and sail on the sea!

Ginns Farm (Long Weekend – usually the August Bankholiday)

Camping at Royal Southampton YC club house on the banks of the Beaulieu River and sailing out on to the Solent or to local pubs during the August 3 day weekend.

Wildwinds Holiday, Vassiliki (Week – usually the last weeks of September)

A trip away with 20+ dinghy sailors enjoying the sunshine and reliable winds of this beautiful Greek island. A chance to practice skills, try cat sailing and have a fun week away.

This is in addition to our Race trips to local clubs on the Thames and once a year, in September, we send a team to compete in the Southport 24 Hour race.

These events and trips are announced as they are organised and are advertised on the website, and if you're interested in joining, just sign up. If you don't have your own boat (or trailer) you can arrange to go with someone who does have their own boat. Occasionally, arrangements are made for club boats to go.
