Most LCSC members come from London, Middlesex and Surrey. Country membership is open to persons living and working outside a zone approximately 15 miles from LCSC, the boundary being within the M25 to the East of London and extending outside the M25 to the West and SW. People living in the following postcodes are not eligible for country membership:

Country members may participate in club events, visit the clubhouse and enjoy most benefits of membership but are not allowed to keep dinghies on the club premises.

Family membership allows two adults and several children in a family unit to become members at a reduced rate. Adults sharing a family membership have exactly the same rights as full members.

Students over the age of 23 have a reduced subscription rate, which requires proof of enrollment in full-time education. Anyone under the age of 23 is entitled to membership at this reduced rate, on proof of date of birth. Note that under-18s may join the club but are not entitled to vote and may have other restrictions applied, at the discretion of the management committee.

Overseas membership is open to persons living and working outside the United Kingdom, but who wish to participate in occasional activities or visit the clubhouse when in London. Those members who are temporarily overseas, and who wish to maintain their membership and keep in touch with the club's activities while they are away, can opt for "absent" membership. Similarly members of the club who are no longer active on the sailing side can become "retired" members. Both these categories share the same rate and will receive newsletters, e-mail updates and so on.

Joint SotT membership is only open to members of the Sons of the Thames rowing club (with which LCSC share the clubhouse); the reduced subscription rate reflects the sharing of costs between the two clubs.

Membership Application

Once you have decided to join and chosen an appropriate category of subscription, download an Application Form . This also includes a copy of the above terms and conditions. It is a relatively small (65kB) document in PDF format. You may need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader. (Hint: if you experience problems with downloading the PDF file try right click on the link). If you wish to include additional family members on your application for family membership please download the relevant additional form.

The constitution of the club requires your application to be proposed and seconded by existing members. If you come down to the club, finding these two signatures is normally easy; we do like to meet new members face-to-face. If you really cannot come to the club in person please send in the application by post. The constitution also requires that members be elected to the club after an initial period which allows other members to vet the application. However this is a formality and members are free to participate in club events as soon as payment has been received by the club.

Payment

Payment, including joining fee where required, should accompany your application - it will be refunded in the unlikely event that you are not formally accepted into the club. Payment should be by cheque, made payable to London Corinthian Sailing Club, or by credit card - fill in details on the form. The Club does not have the facilities for Direct Debit payment.

Thereafter, membership subscriptions are payable annually and are due in the month of joining, e.g. a member joining in November 2007 will be expected to pay a membership renewal on 1st November 2008.

London Corinthian Trust

For technical reasons this is a separate legal entity that runs the club building, Linden House. It is neccessary to become a member of this trust as well as the sailing club itself.

Moorings and fees

Storage of dinghies at the club (referred to as moorings) is available to members of the club. If you wish to apply for such a space for your boat at the time of your application please download the appropriate form.

Boat mooring fees are due on 1st April each year, and will be invoiced at that time. New arrivals will be invoiced pro-rata for each month or part thereof remaining to the end of March. Fees for the current year are £200 per year, with a £100 rebate at year end for all boats that have been used on more than six occasions during the year. (A trip to Poole dinghy week would only count as one occasion - the boat is required to leave its berth, go sailing and then return to its berth at least six times!) This system is to discourage use of the club as a form of cheap storage for unused boats! We have storage for around 100 boats indoors in the undercrofts, and up to 15 in the boatyard (behind locked gates). You must apply to the relevant fleet captain for your berth allocation.

All boats, trailers and gear left on club premises should be clearly marked with boat sail number and/or members name. Unmarked items will be disposed of.
