14 2Slow start to the week with no sailing at all till Tuesday, but a variety of weather conditions followed, including a windy day with a reported gust of force 7. We had mainsheet damage 30 seconds into the race, but lashed up a 2:1 system and managed to complete the race, which at times felt like abseiling down blocks of flats without the rope! The word on the beach was "Awesome".

POW itself was delayed to the Friday due to weak winds, on the Friday we had a healthy breeze, perfect for us. No bad errors till the end when we went for the wrong finish line and let in 2 boats, including Julian Pearson, to end up 18th which is nevertheless my best POW result.

Martin Dixon, GBR 1386 "English Rose"

See the 14 website (see links page) for more results and photos. My crew Andy was very diligent in posting the results each day.

I hope to add some more 14 stuff old and new - tell me if you are interested.

In case you were wondering POW stands for the Prince of Wales Cup. This is competed for annually in a 25 mile olympic(ish) course. This one race is the British International 14 national championship.
